CAMIO AXIS Transition

Get Ready Guide

Overview

Chyron is preparing to transition AXIS services to use Amazon Web Services (AWS), a scalable cloud-based platform. This document helps you prepare your station for migrating its AXIS services to use AWS.

Note: Only AXIS is affected, not NewsTicker.

Migration

1. Complete checklist before migration.

Provide this checklist to your IT department to complete before your station's migration. Chyron cannot proceed with your station's migration until these items are complete.

  • Ensure that your version of CAMIO is 4.11.2 or higher. The version is shown on the CAMIO login page and the diagnostic page.
    • If your version is older, contact your Chyron representative to schedule an update if required. 


  • Confirm TLS 1.0 and 1.2 is allowed on all CAMIO servers.
  • Whitelist outbound (with bi-directional communication) IP addresses and/or hostnames for the following servers:
    • AXIS Website axis.chyron.com
    • FileCatalyst fc.axis.chyron.com, 174.129.124.34
    • FTP Relay Agent ftp.axis.chyron.com, 34.235.221.14
    • AMQ Server amq.axis.chyron.com
    • CAMIO Endpoint api.axis.chyron.com
  • Open ports (with bi-directional communication) through the firewall to communicate with CAMIO for the following services:
    • AXIS Website 80 TCP (HTTP), 443 TCP (HTTPS)
    • FileCatalyst TCP: 8000 - 8999, 10021, 12480
    • UDP:  8000 - 8999
    • FTP TCP: 21, 22, 5000 - 5010
    • AMQ 80 TCP (HTTP), 443 TCP (HTTPS)

2. Schedule your migration.

  1. Schedule your station for migration by contacting Chyron Customer Service (email support@chyron.com or call 631-845-2132).
  2. Plan to allocate 90 minutes for the migration process.
    • LUCI will not be affected by the migration process and nothing will need to be done on the producer newsroom computers.
    • There is no downtime for CAMIO during the migration process.
    • Plan to avoid using AXIS during the migration window, due to the potential for temporary loss of CAMIO/AXIS interoperability.

3. Allow the migration process to finish.

During the scheduled migration, Chyron will perform the following actions.

  • Chyron will:
    • Confirm that all requirements have been met before proceeding with the migration.
    • Change the CAMIO configuration to point the CAMIO to the new AXIS platform.
    • Change the FTP Relay Agent and/or FileCatalyst to point to the new AXIS platform.
    • Update the FileCatalyst client to the latest version.
    • Confirm that AXIS is functional with the new configuration.
