Create a media button
Click Effects PRIME is equipped with an editor for each Media Type. All Media Buttons, with the exception of the Video and Audio Buttons, are created as follows:
- Right-click an empty Media Button,
- Select Create <Media Type>.
To edit a filled Media Button, do one of the following:
- Hold the Alt key and then click the Media Button.
- Right-click the Media Button, and then select Edit in Editor.
You can open all Editors from Play Mode or Organizer Mode.
- 1 Playback Audio Level

Access the video editor
The Video Editor enables you to prepare the video clip’s audio levels, duration, looping, and video content for a Media File. It also controls the appearance of the Media Button on the Media Page, and the Media Button identifier in Play Logging Reports. To access the Video Editor:
- Right-click the filled Video Media Button to be edited,
- Select Edit in Editor.
Note: The HD-SDI or Event Workflow only creates a link to an actual Media File. This allows for multiple Media Buttons to be attached to the same file. If you have a Media File with multiple clips interspaced with black, then you can create multiple Media Buttons and edit each one to display just one section of the entire file. |
Volume controls
The Audio Fader control sets the audio playback level for this video. It does not override the main Control Panel Audio Fader; it sets the level that is heard when the main Audio Fader is set to the default level.
The Audio VU Meter displays audio levels of the clip as it is previewed in the Editor. If the levels are too high or too low, then you can adjust the Audio Fader.
Video preview and timecode
The Video Preview displays the video content of the Media Button, and reflects the position of the Jog Handle.
Video Timecode is displayed and counts up from zero, and reflects the position of the Jog Handle.
Transport Controls
The HD-SDI Workflow Video Editor has the following Transport Controls:
Rewind: Returns the Jog Handle (and Video) to the Mark In point.
Play: Plays the Video from the position of the Jog Handle on the Timeline.
Stop: Stops Video playback at the selected frame. You can set a Video to pause the screen or go to black when stopped. See Player Settings: Video.
While in Edit Mode the Play, Stop, and Rewind buttons are enabled while the Record and Clear buttons are disabled.
Media button properties
The Loop Controls allow the Video to loop for a set number of iterations or continuously. These Loop Controls can be overridden by the Main Control Panel Loop button.
The Title of the Video Button displays under the Media Button on the Media Page, as well as in Play Logging information.
The Media Button Thumbnail displays on the Media Page.
Set a media button thumbnail
To set a thumbnail image for a media button:
- Drag the Jog Handle to the frame that you would like to set as the Media Button Thumbnail.
- Click the Thumbnail image. The Thumbnail frame displays in the Video Preview. A set of adjustment handles appears at the midpoints and corners of the image border.
- If desired, use the adjustment handles to crop the image displayed in the Video Preview. Note that adjusting the handles does not preserve the aspect ratio of the image. As such, the thumbnail may appear stretched or squeezed.
- Click the green check.
To cancel the process:
- Click the red check.
Media button audio mute
When enabled, Media Button Audio Mute disables the audio when playing this Video in Program.
Media Button Audio Mute overrides the main Control Panel Volume setting.
Trimmer controls: Mark in and mark out
Mark In and Mark Out Buttons: Enables you to shorten the Video to the desired content and length. These buttons set the Start or End of the Video based on the location of the Jog Handle when the buttons are pressed.
Note: Use the letters I and O as shortcuts to set the video In Point or Out Point to the location of the Jog Handle. |
- Nudge Buttons: Each MARK button has two Nudge buttons, which push the MARK forward one frame or pull the Mark back one frame.
- Reset Button: The Reset button moves the MARK IN and MARK OUT positions to the first and last frames, effectively returning to the default duration of the video.
Note: Press Ctrl+(← or → arrow key) as a keyboard shortcut to adjust the In Point. Press Alt+(← or → arrow key) adjust the Out-Point. |
Mark handles
There are two blue triangle handles on the Timeline that signify the Mark In and Mark Out points on the timeline.
- Drag a handle.
- Info will update based on the use of the MARK and Nudge buttons.
- The MARK IN handle can force the MARK OUT handle to move to the right,
- The MARK OUT handle cannot move the MARK IN handle to the left.
Set start and end points using jog handle
The frame that is visible in the Video Preview window reflects the position of the jog handle in the timeline.
To set the Start point using the Jog Handle:
- Move the Jog Handle to the desired Start point on the Timeline,
- Click MARK IN.
To set the End point using the Jog Handle:
- Move the Jog Handle to the desired End point on the Timeline,
- Click MARK OUT.
The Jog Handle is bound to stay within the MARK IN and MARK OUT Handles.
Still mode control
Enabling (checking) the STILL checkbox edits the Trimmer to be a length of one frame, based on the current location of the MARK IN handle.
When saved, the Video appears in the Media Page as a Still media type
The Media Button can be reverted to a Video by disabling (unchecking) the STILL checkbox, and then clicking the RESET button.
Frame markers
This function allows the user to set countdown reminders at a specific point inside a clip.
It is available from the Windows menu within the Video Editor—not the Windows key.
You can name each Marker.
Each Marker displays in the Video Preview with a countdown to that marker’s position in the video.
Start a recording session
Starting a recording session is similar to starting a video editing or audio editing session. To start a recording session:
- Right-click an empty Media Button.
- Select Record Video or Record Audio from the menu.
- The Video Editor opens in Record Mode.
- In Record Mode, the Record and Stop buttons are enabled, while the PLAY and REWIND buttons are disabled If a record session is in progress, then you can click the CLEAR button to discard the current recording, in order to record new content.

- 1 Fixed Position Audio Handle
- 2 Incoming Audio VU Meter
- 3 Source Video Preview
- 4 Timecode Display
- 5 CLEAR Button
- 6 Video Editor Output and Video Source Controls
- 7 STOP button
- 8 RECORD button
Include Audio with the Video
If you are going to record video that has an audio track, then you must enable (check) the RECORD AUDIO checkbox, or you will not be able to monitor or record audio. Just as important, if you do not want to record audio, then disable (uncheck) RECORD AUDIO, in order to conserve drive space.
Because your Audio Input Source is set to AES-EBU or Embedded Audio, you do not have any control over the input level of the audio from within the Video Editor. The only way to adjust it is at your source. The incoming Audio signal strength is reflected in the VU meter.
Configure Video Editor Output and Video Source Input Settings
The Video Editor Output control determines whether or not the source video’s audio will be heard over the Channel output. This control allows the user to record and edit video without sending the audio to Program. Selecting Offline does not send the audio to the Program outputs. Selecting Output 1 sends the audio over the Output 1 signal path and will be audible via the Program outputs.
The Video Editor Use Input control allows the user to select among the different video sources available. Each available input is present as an option, and the Click Effects PRIME HD-SDI Workflow pulls Video and Audio from that source.
