CAM-2705 Add Timecode Out to MOS Object Metadata
- The graphic’s entered timecode out value by users is now included in the MOS Object metadata so that it can be displayed in the mosAbstract.
- The timecode out (end value) will use the string %ae which can be displayed in the mosAbstract or ISQ timecode format. Currently we use %as for the start value and %ad for the duration value.
CAM-2706 User access control on Filesync folders
- Note: FileSync/HubDrive Client 1.3.2 is necessary to use that Feature
- The usual workflow with FileSync is the following: Designers upload new package versions to the CAMIO Hub and every PRIME Spoke gets the updates. But they want the Spokes to be able to make some small changes and send them back to the main designer without messing with the Master Package. So the Spokes should be able to push their changes only on different synced folders than the Master ones, where they only have read access.
- The ACL Feature is being implemented accordingly. To illustrate it, as an example let's say there are 2 Master Contexts in CAMIO that are getting content by a Designer and then pushed to 2 PRIME as Spokes, which can also push back modified content to CAMIO. Thus on FileSync Configuration side you will have:
-
- 4 Folders: Master1, Master2, which will be linked to their matching Context in CAMIO, and Spoke1, Spoke2, linked or not to some Context:
-
4 Users: admin, designer, spoke1, spoke2, all with read/write permissions:
3 Folder Groups (where the permissions are set): Masters, Spoke1, Spoke2:
Masters will contain Master1 and Master2 folders, with read/write permissions for the designer User (i.e. capability to download and upload) and read only for the spoke1 and spoke2 Users (i.e. capability to download only):
Spoke1 will contain Spoke1 folder, with read/write permissions for the spoke1 User and read permissions for the designer User:
Spoke2 will contain Spoke2 folder, with read/write permissions for the spoke2 User and read permissions for the designer User:
With such configuration, the Designer will be able to upload from Prime his work to the Master1 or Master2 contexts, which are then replicated to the Spokes. On their side, the Spokes will be able to upload from Prime their changes to the Spoke1 and Spoke2 contexts, or only through FileSync if not linked to any Context, which are then replicated to the Designer machine.
The Designer won’t be able to upload to Spoke1 or Spoke2 contexts, the Spokes won’t be able to upload to Master1 or Master2.
CAM-2826 Change selected field color in LUCI
The font color of a selected field has been modified to remain with the default color: black in light mode or white in dark mode:
CAM-2827 Integration with SNEWS ARION Newsroom system

CAM-2830 Ross Inception MOS Profile
Ross Inception latest version is fully supported by CAMIO
CAM-4651 Prevent loading of LyricX messages while Effect In or Effect Out transition are animating
This Feature allows a smooth playout transition between 2 graphics in LyricX, with Effect Out of the 1st and Effect In of the 2nd. If disabled, a hard cut is made when unloading the 1st and loading the 2nd in the Program Output. To enable it, the “Prevent loading of messages while the “effect out” transition is animating” checkbox in ISQ Service settings > Plugins > Lyric Output Plugin > Lyric should be enabled:
Image description: Prevent loading of messages while the “effect out” transition is animating” checkbox
CAM-5091 ISQ Viewer - Display of Story Block
In ISQ Viewer settings under “Playlist” there is a new “Display Story Header” checkbox to display or hide in the playlist the Story Header in which the graphic objects belongs to:

New Features
CAMIO FileSync Server
The product formerly known as HubDrive Server has been renamed CAMIO FileSync Server and included into the CAMIO Core installer.
It adds a significant new feature, User Access Control over Folders in FileSync. Shared folders can be assigned to individual user logins, Clients will only see the folders to which they are assigned.
Details of the configuration and operation of FileSync Server and the new user access control feature can be found in the CAMIO5 FileSync Manual
Important Note: Be sure to uninstall any previous versions of HubDrive Server or FileSync Server before installing CAMIO 5.2.0.
Move all LUCI Communication to Ports 80 and 443
LUCI communication with CAMIO was previously using non-standard ports for certain features which made firewall configuration difficult, especially when used over open networks. As of this release all LUCI communication with CAMIO occurs on port 80 for standard systems or port 443 when configured for HTTPS. For instance, communication with Data Engine (port 4300) and Media Engine (port 4303) was moved to the CAMIO API (port 80).
CRD Broadcast Mode
In a multi-Prime system, this feature distributes all Prime rundown objects to all Prime playout devices instead of just the one defined by the channel assignment. This enables playout from alternate devices in case of changing channel assignments from the NCS or with manual and automation playout. Changing channel assignments in ISQ does not need this feature.
This feature does not affect file distribution of Lyric rundown objects. They will continue to work as usual. Lyric does not support playout from alternate devices.
CRD Broadcast Mode is not enabled by default and must be configured in the MOS Management Service app settings.
<add key="CrdBroadcastMode" value="true"/>
Render Media Filename Formats
This feature adds the ability to automatically name clip files created via Media Engine workflow using a Filename Format defined in the Media Engine Presets dialog.
The screen grab shows the new field added to the form. The Slug Format is defined using the same format strings used to define the objSlug and mosAbstract. These are described in the "CAMIO5 Administrator Manual " in Appendix B: MOS Object Metadata Format Strings.
When a Slug Format is defined, the Filename will be automatically populated when generating a clip file as shown below. The user can edit the Filename if desired prior to clicking the SAVE button.
NOTE: the filename will be truncated to 64 characters and any invalid characters will be removed.
This assumes that the graphics being rendered is already a MOS Object. But it is possible for Render Media to render a graphic that is not already a MOS Object. In that case the Filename will be left blank and the Render Media dialog should warn the user that it is preferred to do a Manual Preview first in order to create a MOS Object. Such as in the example below.

Prime/ISQ Data Message Playout
This is a major change to how Prime messages are played out by ISQ. Configuring this change requires editing several config files and upgrading to special versions of ISQ and CAMIO Endpoint.
This fixes a problem where in some cases of very large rundowns, and especially with the iNews newsroom system, the running order updates generated by producers would saturate the ISQ communication and cause cueing problems.
Data Message Playout feature requires new versions of Prime, ISQ and Endpoint.
- Requires Prime 3.8.18 or later 3.x.x build, or Prime 4.5.2 or later 4.x.x build.
- Requires ISQ Build 3.5.10.0 or 3.6.2.0.
- ISQ 3.6 includes support for Prime running 2110 with the Matrox 25G board
- ISQ 3.5 build is required for some customers which have reported memory leaks with the 3.6 version of ISQ.
- Requires CAMIO Endpoint Build 1.2.2.0 on the Prime playout devices.
Important Note: Data message playout feature cannot be used with Metacast Weather or VSAR playout. Contact Chyron Support for more information.
Enabling New Media Engine Formats
It is now possible to create and use new Media Engine Formats. It is recommended to use the CAMIO Admin Tools > Media Engine Formats to create new ones instead of using the Media Engine UI.
Bug Fixes
- CAM-2407 LUCI Template Context drop down list issue when there is only one context
- CAM-2450 Saved Item display gets corrupted by large mos abstracts
- CAM-2470 Animated Preview not working when HTTPS

- CAM-2583 Prime previews fail when using illegal XML characters such as <> in replaceable fields’ ID and Name.
- CAM-2594 Cannot open or edit MOS objects which have illegal XML characters in the template
Known Bugs
- CAM-2588 Compose Layering not Assembling Properly: When using the LUCI image compose tool, Searched Images will not show up in the canvas. This bug will be fixed in later versions, but in the meanwhile the workaround is to use Upload Images instead of Searched Images. This will show the graphic as expected.

New Features
- LUCI Context Filtering: A feature was added to the LUCI Context Selector to make it easier to find a given context in a long list. There is a text field at the top of the context selector drop down. Typing one or more characters into this field will narrow down the list to context names that match the typed characters, from the first letter, as shown below.
LUCI Vertical Mode:
Added an optional Vertical Mode. Rearranges the panels in editor view to fit better in a vertical layout (when height is greater than width). Switch between these modes by clicking on the button shown.
When in Horizontal Mode, the button will display to switch to Vertical Mode.
When in Vertical Mode the button will display to switch to Horizontal Mode.
LUCI Continuous Rundown View
Added an optional continuous rundown view which shows graphics from the entire rundown rather than one story at a time. A check box next to the rundown selection dropdown will switch between story view and full rundown view.
Image description: The Story List can be hidden to make more room for the rundown thumbnails. Click on the Hide link highlighted below..
Clicking once on an item will select it, shown as a gray outline. When switching back and forth between story view and full rundown view the selected item will remain in view and highlighted.
Double clicking on the selected item in Full Rundown View will open it in edit mode. When in Story View, click the “Open in Editor” button instead. Rundown editing can be enabled/disabled by the administrator. The newsroom computer system must support the mosItemReplace command for the rundown editing feature to work.
Rundown editing can be enabled/disabled globally in Admin Tools > LUCI Users Default Configuration > Rundown View Edit. The feature can also be overridden individually for users in Admin Tools > Users > Rundown View Edit.
Saved Item Changes
Saved Items dialog now makes the Save As checkbox available more often and preselects it by default. This will save the item to the existing Object ID instead of a new Object ID. This is useful when wanting to save a specific MOS Object such as those in a master rundown.
AWS Licensing
CAMIO License Manager has been updated to allow licensing CAMIO Core and Render on AWS instances.
CAMIO NLE Plugin
A new version of the NLE Plugin which supports changes in Adobe Premiere CC 2020 and 2022. This plugin also supports Avid Media Composer, GVG Edius and the Watch Folder workflow.
CAMIO API
Additional API commands were added to allow third party integration with media rendering functions.
LUCI Container for ENPS
A new LUCI Container version 5.1.0.0 has been released for use with ENPS 8 that reduces crashing when opening and closing LUCI in ENPS.
Limit Context and Subfolder Names to 64 Characters
Creating new Context and context subfolder names will be limited to 64 characters to help manage the user interfaces. In the rare case that an existing name exceeds 64 characters it will not be affected.
Local Cache Playout Mode
This changes the way rundown assets are distributed and used by Prime playout devices. This will fix problems cueing and playing graphics with ISQ in rapidly changing rundowns (ISQ-319) and due to the endpoint deleting rundown files after a time (CDE-43).
Important: This feature requires Camio Endpoint version 1.2.0 and up on all Prime playout devices. This endpoint version is for Prime playout devices only and should not be installed on the CAMIO Render server or Fresh (Hybrid) or Metacast playout devices.
Local Cache Playout Mode requires two configuration settings that need to be enabled.
Configure CAMIO MOS Service on the CAMIO Core Server
- Open the MOSService.exe.config file in Notepad. This file is located in the Camio application folder for MOS Service.
- Locate the appSettings section in the configuration file.
- Locate the EnableDataEngineLocalCacheModeRundownFormat key in the appSettings section.
- For EnableDataEngineLocalCacheModeRundownFormat set the value to true to enable local cache mode and false to disable it.
- Save the change made to the MOSService.exe.config file.
- Restart the MOSService.
Install and Configure CAMIO Endpoint version 1.2.0 on the PRIME Playout device:
- Open the config.json file in Notepad. This file is located in the Camio Endpoint application folder.
- Find the localCacheMode setting in the config.json file. Set this value to true to enable local cache mode or set it to false to disable. Make sure the change aligns with a JSON formatted file. Example: "localCacheMode": true
- Save the change made to the config.json file.
- Restart the CAMIO Endpoint.
After the configuration steps for both CAMIO and CAMIO Endpoint have been completed. Re-activate the rundown in the Newsroom system.

5.0.2
New Features
- CAM-2297 - A ‘Run Now’ button has been added to all jobs to allow the user to run a job as required.
- CAM-2217- A “Run as soon as possible after scheduled start is missed” checkbox has been added to the Job Schedule Configuration for each job.
- When checked, the job will run if the scheduled run time has passed that day. That could occur if the CAMIO was off during the scheduled run time, or if the job was newly created or enabled.
- When not checked, the job will not run if the scheduled run time was missed that day. This checkbox is checked by default when upgrading CAMIO or creating new jobs. This matches the operation of previous versions of CAMIO.

CAM-4651 Prevent loading of LyricX messages while Effect In or Effect Out transition are animating
- This Feature allows a smooth playout transition between 2 graphics in LyricX, with Effect Out of the 1st and Effect In of the 2nd.

New Features
Enhanced Search Feature: This version introduces an enhancement to the LUCI and Asset Manager search feature introduced in 4.9.12.
The & operator is added which searches for combinations of words in any order. This works together with the existing search operation to give search options described by the following examples.
- red blue green - will return any asset which has either red, blue or green in the metadata.
- red “blue green” - will return any asset which has either red or the string “blue green” exactly as written in the double quotation marks.
- red & blue - will return any asset which has both red and blue in any order in one of the metadata fields.
- red & blue green - will return any asset which has either (red and blue) or green.
Notes about the & operator.
- & within a word, such as A&P, just acts as a character. It must have spaces on both sides to act as an operator.
- To search for the & character specifically it must be put in double quotes “&” or be at the beginning or end of the search term (‘& red blue’ and ‘red blue &’ return assets with either red, blue or the & character..
- The & searches only work within a single metadata field. You would not find an asset where one and’ed search term is in the Title field and the other word is in the Description field.
LUCI5 Disable XMP Link Protection
- CAM-2372 This feature gives the option of disabling XMP Link Protection in LUCI5. The option is selected by the administrator in Admin Tools > LUCI Configuration > Disable XMP Link Protection = True or False. False is the default and matches the previous behavior.
- The default setting is Disable XMP Link Protection = False
- Text fields which are linked to XMP data in images are shown with a chain link icon alongside. When the chain is whole the text field is blocked and cannot be manually typed in. If a user wishes to type in that text field, they must click on the chain link icon and show it as broken link
The alternate setting Disable XMP Link Protection = True
The chain link icon will show as grayed out and the user can always type into the linked text field. The chain link will still show as linked or unlinked if a user manually types into the text field.
.
- LUCI5 Global Filters Display by Context: LUCI5 Global Filters will now be displayed only in the Asset Type and Context for which they were created in Admin Tools. This more closely matches previous behavior in LUCI4.
Global Filters are shown in a drop down in LUCI5.
Global Filters are configured in Admin Tools > LUCI User Default Configurations

New Features
Prime ISQ Data Message Playout: This is a major change to how Prime messages are played out by ISQ. Configuring this change requires editing several config files and upgrading to special versions of ISQ and CAMIO Endpoint.
- This fixes a problem where in some cases of very large rundowns, and especially with the iNews newsroom system, the running order updates generated by producers would saturate the ISQ communication and cause cueing problems.
- Data Message Playout feature requires new versions of Prime, ISQ and Endpoint.
- Requires Prime 3.8.18 or later 3.x.x build, or Prime 4.5.2 or later 4.x.x build.
- Requires ISQ Build 3.5.10.0 or 3.6.2.1.
For more info about installation and configuration, see the document "ISQ Prime Data Message Playout Mode". |
Bug Fixes
- CAM-2583 Prime previews fail when using illegal XML characters such as <> in replaceable fields’ ID and Name.
- CAM-2594 Cannot open or edit MOS objects which have illegal XML characters in the template
- CAM-2580 Movie and Image Proxies not showing in LUCI or Asset Manager
Known Bugs
- CAM-2588 Compose Layering not Assembling Properly
- When using the LUCI5 image compose tool, searched graphics will not show up in the canvas. This bug will be fixed in later versions, but in the meanwhile the workaround is to press the Reset Layer after selecting a graphic. This will show the graphic as expected.

New Features
This is an optional upgrade only required if producers are accustomed to changing the channel assignments of Prime objects in the newsroom system UI instead of in LUCI.
CRD Broadcast Mode
- In a multi-Prime system, this feature distributes all Prime rundown objects to all Prime playout devices instead of just the one defined by the channel assignment. This enables playout from alternate devices in case of changing channel assignments from the NCS or with manual and automation playout. Changing channel assignments in ISQ does not need this feature.
- This feature does not affect file distribution of Lyric rundown objects. They will continue to work as usual. Lyric does not support playout from alternate devices.
- CRD Broadcast Mode is not enabled by default and must be configured in the MOS Management Service app settings.
- <add key="CrdBroadcastMode" value="true"/>
- CRD Broadcast Mode must only be used when the Local Cache Playout Mode is enabled.
Changes to Local Cache Playout Mode:
- In this release, the Local Cache Playout Mode described below (10.1.0) is set to true by default.
Important This feature requires Camio Endpoint version 1.2.1 and up on all Prime playout devices. This version is also not compatible with Hybrid/Fresh or Metacast Playout devices as configured. |
Please contact CAMIO Product Management for more information if using those systems.

New Feature
Local Cache Playout Mode: This changes the way rundown assets are distributed and used by Prime playout devices. This will fix intermittent problems cueing and playing graphics with ISQ in rapidly changing rundowns.
- Local Cache Playout Mode must be enabled in the MOS Management Service app settings.
<add key="EnableDataEngineLocalCacheModeRundownFormat" value="true"/> - Important: This feature requires Camio Endpoint version 1.2.1 and up on all Prime playout devices. This endpoint version is for Prime playout devices only and should not be installed on the CAMIO Render server. This version is also not compatible with Hybrid/Fresh or Metacast Playout devices. Please contact CAMIO Product Management for more information if using those systems.
4.9.13
Bug Fixes
- CAM-2328 Fixed problems with MOS 2.8.5 roElementAction command
4.9.12
New Features
- Changes to Asset Manager and LUCI5 Search Operation
- CAM-2213/LW-975 - This new feature resolves differences in the way the search function operated in different areas of Asset Manager and LUCI Web. There is now a standardized search functionality described below:
- Multiple words in the search box will search for any or all of the words in any order.
- Multiple words surrounded by double-quotes will be searched as an exact string match of what is in the double-quotes.
- It is possible to mix single words with words in double-quotes such as big “red balloon” which will search for either the string big or the string red balloon.
- All matches can be partial word matches, for instance big will match biggest or ambiguity.
- Changes to Asset Distribution to improve speed with large rundowns.
- CAM-2294 - When working with large rundowns, some users found that distribution of new MOS
- Objects to playout devices takes too long. This change gives users the option to prioritize distribution of new MOS Objects.
- Open CAMIO’s MOS Management Service config file.
- C:\Program Files (x86)\ChyronHego\CAMIO4\MOSManagementService\MOSService.exe.config
- Go to the AppSettings section and add or modify the following appsetting to “True” and restart the MOS Service.
- <add key="ImmediatelyDistributeNewMosObjects" value="true" />
- Ensure Upload Replace Images are updated on the CAMIO Renderer
- CAM-2240 - Change is in CAMIO Endpoint 1.1.27 and is included in CAMIO Renderer 1.0.29 Resolves issue with images not updating on renderer after an upload replace. Be sure to uninstall the previous version of Endpoint on the renderer and playout devices prior to CAMIO Render installation.

4.9.11
New Features
- Two Changes to Job Schedule Configuration
- CAM-2297 - A ‘Run Now’ button has been added to all jobs to allow the user to run a job as required.
- CAM-2217- A “Run as soon as possible after scheduled start is missed” checkbox has been added to the Job Schedule Configuration for each job.
- When checked, the job will run if the scheduled run time has passed that day. That could occur if the CAMIO was off during the scheduled run time, or if the job was newly created or enabled.
- When not checked, the job will not run if the scheduled run time was missed that day.
- This checkbox is checked by default when upgrading CAMIO or creating new jobs. This matches the operation of previous versions of CAMIO.

4.9.0
New Features
- New Media Engine Installer
- CAMIO 4.9.0 installs a new version of Media Engine along with CAMIO on the CAMIO Server
- Not on the Render Engine where it was originally installed.
- It installs by default but does not operate unless licensed.
- The old software if it exists can be disabled or uninstalled.
- Media rendering input and output folders will be moved to the CAMIO Server so other settings may need to be changed.
- Media Engine option licensing (5A01838) will now be handled using the CAMIO license dongle.
- Requires External Licensing Manager 1.2.1 for CAMIO VM installations.
- Prime Support in Mediamaker Editor Plugins
- Supports Prime rendering with selected versions of Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere and GVG Edius.
- Requires updating plugin on editor workstation to Mediamaker Utilities 2.0.0.2
- Requires one or more Render Engines and Media Engine option license.
- Prime Support in Folder Watcher
- Supports Prime rendering with the legacy Folder Watcher workflow.
- Note that Folder Watcher input and output folders will be moved to the CAMIO Server.
- Requires one or more Render Engines and Media Engine option license
- Prime Styles
- CAMIO 4.9 supports Prime Styles functionality.
- Requires compatible Prime 3.1 or 3.5 and content employing the styles feature.
- Define a list of styles per context in Admin Tools that is displayed in LUCI5 drop down.
- LUCI Previews and MOS Object Thumbnails will be rendered based on selected Prime Style
- ISQ and Automation Playout will be based on selected Prime Style
- %y - style value assigned to a Prime MOS Object can be displayed in mosAbstract and ISQ playlist.
- Prime Styles Based Reskinning
- Select preferred Style per Context for a given rundown.
- Copying a story from another rundown will automatically change the Style value.
- Prime supports legacy Context based Reskinning as well. Note: cannot apply Context Reskinning and Style Reskinning to the same rundown.
- Like with Context Reskinning, the rundown needs to be MOS active to make the reskinning happen.
- LUCI5 Saved States
- Prior to this release LUCI5 would not save the selected dropdown options if LUCI is closed and reopened in a newsroom system. CAMIO 4.9 now saves the state for each user on a given workstation (IP address).
- The saved states are: Style, Context, Category, Filter and Sort.
- Saved State information is saved for 90 days from the last time it is updated, per user per workstation.
- This expiration can be changed in Admin Tools > LUCI Client Configuration.
There is a clean up script to delete old Saved States that have expired. This script must run daily but the time of day can be changed in Admin Tools > Job Schedule Configuration.
- ISQ Pause Count (Lyric Only)
- Messages with variable pause counts such as bullet point reveals.
- ISQ will display the number of pauses in a message in the grid
- When a message is loaded to play the pause count is shown next to thumbnail and counts down as the pauses are released.
- There are some important rules to follow in designing the message to make sure that the correct pause count is displayed.
- Requires ISQ 3.5.1
IMPORTANT NOTE Lyric will count all pauses even if they are in conditional transitions because it doesn’t know beforehand which transitions will be played. An example is a message with both Effect In and Update In. Do not put pauses into such conditional transitions because both sets will be counted even though only one set will play |
