NAB 2026
Overview
What are the benefits of using the Chyron Weather solution?
- Flexible! It is considered "agnostic," allowing users to choose their own data, design style, content, and workflow.
- Reliable! It can automate the data pipeline. It also allows for control through newsroom systems like CAMIO and other third-party solutions.
- Easy to use! You can create content easily and make last-minute changes.
What new features are being showcased this year at NAB, compared to the previous NAB?
This year's presentation features the ability for controlling virtual reality (VR) elements in Unreal from WeatherPresenter.
What specific VR elements will be demonstrated at NAB?
The demonstration includes playlist authoring in WeatherPresenter including trigger objects for the virtual studio. Control includes: Visibility of virtual objects, camera position, geoLocation (WeatherFloor), data, time and effects.
What kind of weather data and content will be shown?
The presentation will feature hurricane tracks (cone and spagetti tracks), but also various other data types. Additional weather and weather related data types such as smoke data, traffic data, and various types of maps can also be seen.
How is the presentation at NAB structured?
Because individual meetings at the show are typically short, the team focuses on showing control features while building a story based on a real weather event to help customers understand the workflow.
Technical Capabilities and Prototypes
What is the new "VirtualWeather prototype"?
The prototype features a 3D terrain created inside a studio in the VSAR (Virtual Set and Augmented Reality) system. This terrain includes elevation and textures.
What can be displayed on the 3D terrain?
It can show weather data as 3D elements like wind and clouds based on the specific elevation maps of a chosen region.
How is the system controlled during a live presentation?
The setup uses four screens and can be controlled using a Stream Deck and "Quickkeys"-Trigger. The same clicker used for weather can control VSAR elements through an API.
How do users manage virtual elements?
Users can drag and drop tigger elements from a library into a control layer to manage what is being showcased.
