Axis does not currently provide built-in multi-factor authentication (MFA) through AWS Cognito.
If an organization requires MFA, it must be configured and enforced directly within the chosen external Identity Provider (examples: Google, Okta, Microsoft Entra ID).
- No Axis/Cognito MFA
MFA cannot be enabled or managed from Axis. The standardized Phone field in Axis is not used for MFA delivery. - 3rd Party Responsibility
All MFA setup (SMS, authenticator apps, push notifications, hardware tokens, etc.) must be managed entirely within the third-party provider’s environment. - User Experience
If MFA is enabled in the Identity Provider, users will be prompted for their second factor during authentication with that provider, before being redirected back to Axis.
Axis does not display or manage MFA prompts itself.
Summary:
MFA is only available if configured through the external IdP. Axis and Cognito will honor the authentication result returned by the IdP but do not handle MFA directly.
