Overview
The Styles Manager is a high-level governance application used to assemble style arts into Map Styles and distribute them across the organization. It is accessible only to users with administrator permissions.
A Map Style is a named bundle of style arts — project defaults, color palettes, typefaces, map themes, locator styles, safe titles, and hillshade settings — created in the Styles Editor. Once assembled, a Map Style is assigned to one or more projects, and the Map Editor for those projects then exposes only the arts and configurations the assigned Map Style contains.
The Styles Manager interface
The Styles Manager is organized as a series of columns that move from left to right, from the broadest scope (the organization) to the narrowest (an individual project). Working across the columns, an administrator selects an organization, opens or creates a Map Style, fills it with style arts, and assigns it to projects.

| Organizations | The organizational tree — hubs, teams, stations, and departments. Select an organization to view the Map Styles that belong to it. |
| Map Styles | The list of Map Styles defined for the selected organization. Use + to create a new Map Style; each entry can be selected, duplicated, or deleted. Map Styles can also be grouped under sub-organizations. |
| Art Sections | The style arts contained in the selected Map Style, grouped by type: Project Defaults, Color Palettes, Typefaces, Map Themes, Locator Styles, Safe Titles, and Hillshade Settings. Each type shows a count of how many arts are included out of those available (example: Map Themes 0/26). |
| Preview | A preview of the arts in the selected section — for example, the Project Defaults included in the Map Style, shown as thumbnails. Layout can be toggled between grid and list views. |
| Assign to Projects | The list of projects the Map Style can be assigned to. Select the checkbox next to each project that should use this Map Style, then confirm. |
Building a map style
To assemble and assign a Map Style:
- In the Organizations column, select the organization the Map Style belongs to.
- In the Map Styles column, click + to create a new Map Style, or select an existing one to edit. Use the rename and save controls at the top of the column as needed.
- In the art sections column, choose each art type and add the style arts to include — project defaults, color palettes, typefaces, map themes, locator styles, safe titles, and hillshade settings. The count next to each type reflects how many arts are included.
- Review the included arts in the preview column.
- In the Assign to Projects column, select the projects that should use this Map Style.
- Save. A confirmation (example: "Map Style saved") indicates the Map Style and its assignments have been stored.
Note: A project uses only the arts and configurations contained in the Map Style assigned to it. If an expected art is missing in the Map Editor, verify that it has been added to the assigned Map Style and that the Map Style is assigned to the project.
Organizational hierarchy
Map Styles are organized around the organizational tree shown in the Organizations column. Assignments are made per project in the Assign to Projects column, so a single Map Style can serve as many projects as needed, and different projects within the same organization can be assigned different Map Styles.
