Overview
Styles Manager is a high-level governance application used to manage and distribute styles across the organization. It is accessible only to users with administrator’s permission.
The Styles Manager operates on a three-tier model:
| Tier | Name | Description |
| Tier 1 | Styles & Themes | The individual building blocks created in the Styles Editor: locator styles, map themes, color palettes, typefaces, safe titles. |
| Tier 2 | Templates | A named collection of selected Styles & Themes bundled for a specific use case (e.g. 'Election Night Template'). |
| Tier 3 | Presets | A Template plus operational rules: allowed output formats, default camera settings, UI defaults. The Preset is what gets assigned to organizations. |
Organizational Hierarchy
The Styles Manager supports a three-level organizational hierarchy:
- Hub — the highest level (e.g. a regional broadcast group)
- Station — mid level (e.g. an individual station within the group)
- Project — the lowest level (e.g. 'Election Coverage' or 'Daily News')
Assignments cascade downward: a Preset assigned to a Hub is inherited by all Stations and Projects below it, unless overridden at a lower level.
Styles and Themes Library
The Styles and Themes Library provides administrators with a comprehensive read-only view of all available design assets in the system. Use this view to audit available styles before building templates.
To access the library: navigate to the Styles Manager and click Library in the left panel. Assets are organized by type (Locator Styles, Map Themes, Color Palettes, Typefaces, Safe Titles).
Template Builder
The Template Builder allows administrators to create reusable style bundles by combining multiple Styles & Themes into a single named Template.
Creating a Template
- Click Templates in the Styles Manager toolbar.
- Click + New Template.
- Enter a descriptive name (e.g. ‘Breaking News – Dark Theme’).
- From the left panel (Available Styles), drag or select items to add to the template:
- Click Save Template.
- Select the locator styles to include
- Select the color palettes to include
- Select the map themes to include
- Select typefaces and safe titles as needed
Preset Configurator
A Preset wraps a Template with operational settings that define how it behaves when assigned to an organization:
Creating a Preset
- Click Presets in the Styles Manager toolbar.
- Click + New Preset.
- Select a Template to base the Preset on.
- Configure output formats (resolutions, export types).
- Set default camera position (center, zoom, pitch, bearing).
- Configure UI defaults and map settings as needed.
- Click Save Preset.
Assignment Manager
The Assignment Manager allows administrators to distribute Presets across the Hub → Station → Project hierarchy.
Assigning a Preset
- Click Assignment in the Styles Manager toolbar.
- The organizational tree is displayed, showing all Hubs, Stations, and Projects.
- Click on a Hub, Station, or Project to select it.
- In the right panel, click Assign Preset.
- Select the desired Preset from the dropdown.
- Click Confirm. The Preset is now active for the selected entity and all entities below it that do not have their own override.
Overriding an Inherited Assignment
To assign a different Preset to a specific Station or Project (overriding the Hub-level assignment):
- Click the Station or Project in the tree.
- Click Override Assignment.
- Select the Preset to use for this specific entity.
- Click Confirm. Only this entity uses the new Preset; sibling entities continue to inherit the Hub assignment.
Note: The Map Editor will reflect only the styles and configurations included in the Preset assigned to the active project. If expected styles are missing, verify the assignment in the Styles Manager.
