Introduction
AXIS Maps is a cloud-native, modular map creation solution designed for building, styling, and managing broadcast-quality maps across different organizations, projects and use cases.
The solution separates map composition, visual styling, and style governance into three distinct applications. This separation allows the system to scale across teams, stations, and hubs while keeping workflows clear and permissions well defined.
Platform Overview
AXIS Maps provides an intuitive web-based interface for:
- Creating and composing professional broadcast map graphics
- Applying and managing visual styles, themes, and color palettes
- Governing style distribution across organizations and projects
- Exporting high-quality still images and video renders
- Integrating with the AXIS platform
The Three Applications
| Application | Purpose | Typical Users |
| Map Editor | Create and edit maps — the primary user workspace | Editors, producers, journalists |
| Styles Editor | Create and edit visual styles (themes, palettes, locators, typefaces, safe titles) | Designers, advanced users |
| Styles Manager (Work in Progress) | Bundle styles into templates and assign them to organizations and projects | Administrators, power users |
Before You Begin
AXIS Maps runs entirely in a web browser (latest Chrome recommended). No local software installation is required. Access is provided via a URL and credentials supplied by your Chyron administrator.
Ahead of any production, it is recommended to:
- Confirm your account credentials and project access with your administrator
- Verify that style packages have been assigned to your project
