How are newsroom workflows changing with Axis?
- PRIME Rendering Path: Axis News now natively supports PRIME as a rendering path. This modernizes legacy workflows by allowing producers to fully arrange and preview scenes prior to export.
- VSAR Integration: We are introducing a prototype integration between Axis and VSAR. Users can now generate an export package directly from Axis and import it into a 3D VSAR environment with minimal steps.
- Legacy Support: While we are actively expanding new PRIME workflows, support for users who still require legacy templates (like Lyric) is being maintained.
What new image and composition tools are available?
- Unified Canvas Tool: Centralizing image composition for both Axis and CAMIO/LUCI, this new tool replaces older compositing methods. It allows you to create graphics independently without being bound to specific templates.
- Custom Resolutions: Based on direct user feedback, the new Canvas tool supports fully custom resolutions for exports, giving you total flexibility for broadcast, web, and social delivery.
- AI Integration: The Canvas tool includes smart AI features, notably a one-click background removal tool for rapid, high-quality image composition.
What features define the newly rebuilt Axis Maps?
- Complete Rebuild: Axis Maps has been rebuilt from scratch to offer fluid 2D-to-3D zooming and transitioning. You can seamlessly switch between map views (globe, flat, satellite, and topographic).
- Brand Compliance: The new map architecture ensures outputs remain strictly brand-compliant, drastically reducing the day-to-day reliance on your art department.
- Efficiency and Bookmarking: A "single-screen workflow" minimizes clicks. You can also save "scene bookmarks" (templates) for different themes, allowing you to return later and update only the necessary details.
- Format Flexibility: Switch between aspect ratios—such as 16:9 for air, 9:16 for social media, or 1:1—in just two clicks.
- Customization and Localization: Use the style editor to customize color layers, lines, labels, and locators. All data within the system is fully localizable, supporting multiple languages out of the box.
What is the latest on data, animations, and charts?
- Axis Charts Rebuild (Roadmap): Axis Charts is being completely rebuilt for delivery by the end of the year. This update will offer full creative control and live data integration, directly addressing and streamlining current complexities in PRIME workflows.
- Map Animations: Animations are rendered natively on the machine rather than the front end, allowing for high-performance outputs (up to 4K at 60 fps). You can use multi-scene keyframing to add elements across various points in the animation.
What general improvements have been made to the platform?
- Security and Ease of Use: Single Sign-On (SSO) integration streamlines your workflow, making it faster and easier to securely log into the system.
- Platform Reliability: The Axis platform continues to maintain high availability, exceeding 99.9% uptime to support round-the-clock news cycles.
