IBC Edition
CAMIO 5.6 Updates and Experience
What can I see at IBC? We are highlighting CAMIO 5.6, demonstrating core NRCS integrations, NLE support, and playlist playout through ISQ.
How has the UI improved? The interface has been refreshed and built on a new front-end framework, allowing for resizable navigation and property panels. Folder operations in the asset manager have also been refined to make renaming and navigation more intuitive.
What new admin tools are available? Administrators can now upload entire folder hierarchies with built-in asset conflict resolution. Additionally, log file harmonization consolidates all logs into a single standard folder, significantly speeding up troubleshooting.
LUCI Control Panels
What are LUCI control panels? They are control panels built in PRIME that are now natively accessible within LUCI. This gives journalists a familiar, nearly identical interface to populate replaceables and manage data-heavy templates prior to playout.
What is the current development focus? Ensuring the rock-solid stability of these LUCI control panels is one of the top priorities for the development team in the 5.6 release.
Image Composition Tools
How does the LUCI crop tool work? The tool allows for automated, one-click headshot creation and cropping directly within the interface, eliminating the need for external photo editing software.
What is the new Canvas tool? Alongside the crop tool, CAMIO 5.6 introduces a new centralized Canvas tool for image composition, standardizing the image editing experience across both CAMIO/LUCI and Axis.
Chyron AI Capabilities and Roadmap
How does Chyron AI assist producers? The AI assistant can analyze scripts directly from the newsroom system (currently integrated with ENPS) to proactively suggest and pre-populate templates. It also features AI image tagging to automatically keyword assets for easier searching.
What is the current status of the AI rollout? Active development on expanding AI to other newsroom systems is temporarily paused to prioritize customer projects and the stabilization of the LUCI control panels.
Can the AI be trained to recognize local politicians or regional figures? Because cloud-based AI models function as "black boxes," they cannot currently be trained on specific regional figures by users. To address this, the team is exploring the introduction of manual "person entities" within CAMIO to capture and manage local figure data locally.
