What’s new in Paint 10.5 regarding camera transitions?
Paint 10.5 introduces a new "cam-warp" feature designed to seamlessly bridge different camera perspectives by warping between saved clips. To make these transitions look completely natural, the system now includes directional-aware motion blur, ensuring a smooth visual flow when switching between wide and close-up angles.
How has the AI Player Cutout feature improved?
The AI player segmentation is now significantly better at identifying and isolating players, even when they are partially obstructed by others. For maximum precision, operators can now manually edit masks before rendering a clip, allowing them to fix minor imperfections and ensure a perfectly clean cutout.
Does the player segmentation work on difficult surfaces, like ice hockey?
Yes. Despite the challenging white background of the ice, the enhanced AI player segmentation has been confirmed to function flawlessly for ice hockey broadcasts.
Are there any hardware or deployment updates?
The team is currently actively testing a highly portable deployment running Paint on a laptop with an external hardware enclosure. The testing phase for this setup is expected to conclude shortly after IBC.
What is CamWarp?
CamWarp is a new feature in Chyron's PAINT 10.5 designed to elevate multi-angle sports replays. It replaces abrupt cuts with fluid, AI-generated camera movements directly within your existing production workflow. CamWarp is an AI-assisted camera transition tool built into the PAINT replay system. Instead of jumping abruptly from a main game camera to a tactical angle, sky cam, or reverse view with a hard cut, CamWarp renders smooth, continuous movement between these synced, calibrated replay angles.
Do I need to export clips to external software to create these transitions?
No. The entire process stays inside the PAINT environment. Operators select a saved multi-angle clip, choose the transition point, set the starting and target camera angles, and generate a new playable clip. This clip can immediately be used for review, further telestration, or live playout without adding external workflow complexity.
Will my telestration graphics shift or break during the camera movement?
No, your graphics stay locked in place. Because CamWarp relies on synced and calibrated camera angles, all drawn elements—such as lines, arrows, highlights, and player indicators—remain correctly aligned to the field throughout the transition. This preserves the clarity and spatial context of the sports analysis.
How does the system handle overlapping or hard-to-see players?
PAINT 10.5 includes a dedicated Player Segmentation Editor specifically for this purpose. If a player is far away, partially obscured, or overlapping with another athlete, the operator can manually clean up the selected frames before generating the transition. Refining these masks provides better source data for the AI, resulting in fewer visual artifacts and a much cleaner final broadcast clip.
What is the purpose of the optional Motion Blur setting?
Highly detailed, AI-generated transition frames can occasionally look unnaturally sharp or mechanical on air. The optional Motion Blur setting applies directional blur that accurately follows the camera's path of travel. This creates a more realistic, cinematic sense of movement and actively helps soften minor segmentation imperfections along the edges of moving players.
